Machine translation output is better than ever, with increased accuracy and fluency in most languages. However, we rarely recommend using machine translation as a standalone solution. MTPE editors are highly skilled linguists who will verify the linguistic quality and cultural appropriateness of machine generated translations. Work with us to post-edit content produced on your side, or speak to Avantpage Life Sciences about our own machine translation service, which includes a built-in MTPE step.

| What materials work best with MT? | While you can run any text through a machine translation engine, results are best when text is factual and objective. This could be user manuals, product descriptions, FAQs. Creative texts, or materials where your brand voice is important, will take longer to edit after being translated by a machine. |
| Is the cost of MTPE different from translation? | Linguists performing MTPE typically process more text per hour than they do when translating from scratch, lowering the average per word price. Additionally, MTPE requires fewer linguists than translation, since a typical translation process includes steps for multiple linguists (translator, editor, proofreader). |
| Which MT product should I use? | There are many MT options out there. We can use our trained machines, or conduct MTPE on translations that you performed using a different tool. If you need help selecting or training a tool, we can help with this as well. We don’t recommend using large language models (LLMs) for this, as they were not built with translation in mind. |
